Blog Post #2, Politics

I honestly HATE politics with a passion! I have no idea why but I just do. I never understood it and probably won't understand it in the future.

In regards to this election year, I can't vote. =( I'm super close to becoming a U.S. Citizen!!! ^_^V I'm taking the Oath next Tuesday, that's when I officially become a citizen of the U.S. I probably won't register in time for voting because to register, it'll take a few weeks, or months. =(

If I was to vote for someone, I'd still be clueless. McCain seems conservative which is not a bad idea. He has that "protective parent" figure. He's a person that I think won't make impulsive decisions, however, he does think like Bush and I don't like Bush. Obama on the other hand, I admire him because he broke the barrier of "no black man will become President". Obama cares a lot of immigration, wages, working conditions, energy, and health. He targets a younger audience (18-25ish) and the lower class people. He gained their trust that if he becomes President, he will make their life a little easier. I guess, if I was to vote, I'll lend more towards Obama?

I will not read politics everyday, but I do like it when other people talk about it. It makes me learn more because I hate reading, especially politics. When people talk about it, I assume that they know what they're talking about and I listen to what they have to say about each candiate. It's like..politics for dummies, like me. =) My parents don't care who become president... they don't even speak English, don't really care for this place, I mean they don't hate it or whatever, but they just want to make enough to help us (my siblings and I) survive until we're on our own, and make enough money so they can retire back to China. I don't think they care much for politics because they think they can't make a difference. I think that is true, I mean off course if they try hard enough, they can, anyone can make a difference if they try. I think I can make a difference in the future, in something...don't know what yet but if I try hard enough, someone out there will listen and I can make a change!

This also reminds me of another thing. I kind of did make a change but not soon enough. =( When I was in high school, I was part of a club called T.E.A.M. Palmetto. It was a clue where they help old people learn how to use a computer. It was a great club and I'm really proud of being in it. I was in it from freshman year as a member, sophomore year I was techincally the secretary/VP because they were never there, junior year I was President and senior year I was president. Throughout my four years in that club, I've move the club from outlines to outlines of each class to an online site where people can access it and edit it at anytime. It was on a wiki site, where you can edit and write new infos. Our outlines were improving every year and our goal was to make a book, so the elderly that came, can take it home with them. During my seniors year, our school had a budget cut so they stopped our ads in the local newspaper. We didn't know that until our last session of the year. It was too late to do anything. There wasn't enough members who was dedicated enough to take over the club. Seriously, if I was still there today, I would of tried to keep the club going. It's such a club. The elderly people that comes to our classes everyday are greatful that someone will take their time and teach them something that is brand new to them. Some has never touched a computer before. Seeing them leave and thank us so much for our time makes me feel happy.
